The City of Washington D.C. is moving to the cloud. The government is going to transition away from Microsoft’s Office, Sharepoint, and Exchange to Google Apps, including Google Docs, Google Sites, and my favorite, Gmail. This will free up a lot of IT resources that were previously spent managing Exchange, backing up documents (they’ll still need to do some of this, though), and fighing spam. I’ve previously written about why the University of Georgia should move to Google Apps.
Hi! I’m Chris, I run cities and counties (city management) by day and dabble in web development by night. And raise three kids.
This is my personal website, where I talk a little about government, a little about web design, and whatever else I find interesting. If you would like to contact me, I'm available here.
My short form writing is available on my Micro.blog.
