Washington D.C. Moves to the Cloud

by Chris on October 12, 2008

The City of Washington D.C. is moving to the cloud.  The government is going to transition away from Microsoft’s Office, Sharepoint, and Exchange to Google Apps, including Google DocsGoogle Sites, and my favorite, Gmail.  This will free up a lot of IT resources that were previously spent managing Exchange, backing up documents (they’ll still need to do some of this, though), and fighing spam.  I’ve previously written about why the University of Georgia should move to Google Apps.
